Courses
Manual Handling Training is designed to prevent injury in the workplace by providing employees with the knowledge and skills to perform all lifting and manual handling tasks efficiently and safely. We provide participants with knowledge on the consequences of incorrect lifting techniques on the back and structure of the spine. By increasing awareness, we reduce the amount of injuries by insuring correct techniques are used when moving loads.
 
Course Objectives:
 
On completion of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Define manual handling as per the General Application Regulations 2007
  • Be aware of health & safety legislation
  • Understand the basic anatomy of the musculoskeletal system
  • Use the 8 principles of safe lifting correctly

  • Anatomy and structures of the spine
  • Posture when lifting
  • Priorities of First Aid
  • Correct lifting techniques
  • What is it and how can it prevent injury
  • What is a Risk Assessment?
  • How to carry out a Risk Assessment
         

Certification:
 
All learners must successfully complete both the theory & practical components of the course in order to receive 3 Year certification of attendance from Blackwood Training
